Annual Conferences
PNoWB’s flagship event, the Annual Conference seeks to identify what parliamentarians can do to promote action on development and global issues, and help strengthen the accountability and transparency of international financial institutions by providing a platform for dialogue.
The Annual Conference brings together on average 200 PNoWB members, in addition to top officials from the World Bank, the IMF and multilateral development agencies. This also includes representatives from parliamentary organisations, development NGOs and civil society at large. Presidents of Senegal, Brazil and Indonesia have also participated in PNoWB annual conferences. At the 2008 Annual Conference in Paris, PNoWB members had discussions with World Bank President Robert Zoellick, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Nobel Economics Laureate Michael Spence, French Minister for the Economy, Industry and Employment Christine Lagarde and other senior officials from International Financial Institutions and the civil society.
PNoWB annual conferences are hosted by the Parliament and Government of countries, where the event takes place.
